Maria de Jesus Mayo is a documentary filmmaker, she holds an MFA from the University of California Santa Cruz and is an alumna of the New School Graduate Documentary Program in New York City, and the University of Southern California. Her short films have premiered at notable film festivals such as Doc NYC, Urbanworld, and LALIFF. She champions the visibility of BIPOC communities through a social justice lens. She is a Cinema and Media Arts faculty member at Los Angeles Community College District. The themes of her work include intergenerational conversations, identity, and belonging.
